Fees & insurance: Consultation fees and lengths vary by clinic and appointment type — please call or email for current fees. We welcome self-paying patients and work with the major private medical insurers. If you hold private medical insurance, please check your policy and have your membership and authorisation details ready before your appointment.
Your first visit

What to expect at your first appointment

Your initial appointment is about understanding your problem and agreeing a plan. We’ll take time to listen, examine you carefully and explain what we find.

  • A detailed discussion of your symptoms, history and goals
  • A focused physical examination
  • An explanation of the likely diagnosis or next steps
  • A clear, personalised plan and time for your questions
A welcoming consultation room where a clinician greets an active adult patient for a first appointment

What to bring

  • A list of your symptoms and when they started
  • Any relevant scans, X-rays or previous reports
  • A list of any medications you take
  • Comfortable clothing so the area can be examined
  • Insurance details and authorisation, if applicable

How assessments work

  • We start with your story — the history is often the most important part
  • We examine the affected and related areas
  • We discuss whether any investigations are needed
  • We agree a plan together and explain the options

Follow-up care

Recovery is rarely a single visit. Where helpful, we’ll arrange follow-up to review your progress, adjust your plan and support your return to activity — coordinating with physiotherapy or other professionals as needed.

1

Review progress

We check how you’re responding and answer any new questions.

2

Adjust the plan

We progress or adapt your rehabilitation based on how you’re doing.

3

Coordinate care

We liaise with other professionals involved in your recovery where appropriate.

4

Return to activity

We guide your safe, criteria-led return to sport or daily life.

Urgent symptoms? An appointment is not for emergencies. If your symptoms are severe or urgent — for example severe pain, an inability to move or bear weight, numbness, a suspected fracture or dislocation, chest pain or breathlessness — call 999 or attend your nearest A&E.
